The Nature of Gothic
Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery
Co-curated by the amazing Dr Cynthia Johnston and Anthea Purkis, The Nature of Gothic is the Museum’s most ambitious exhibition to date — and we’re proud to have played a part in it.
It’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the Museum’s incredible team to create a full design package for The Nature of Gothic, a landmark exhibition at Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery running till 13 December 2025.
Our work includes the visual identity, catalogue design, posters, invites, and exhibition vinyls — we created a contemporary floral border with a modern blackletter font to reflect the exhibition’s exploration of how artists across eras and disciplines have turned to nature for aesthetic and symbolic inspiration.
The show brings together the Museum’s remarkable Hart Collection of rare books and manuscripts with works from major national institutions including the British Library, Manchester Art Gallery and Cambridge University Library, and newly commissioned works by contemporary artists Jamie Holman and Nehal Aamir.
